Consul General Tariq Karim attends Pakistan Flag raising Ceremony
The ceremony, attended by a large number of Pakistani-American community members, Bolingbrook Mayor Ms. Mary Alexander-Basta, former Mayor Roger C. Claar and senior city officials, was part of ongoing Pakistan 75th #IndependenceDay celebrations in Illinois and other Midwestern States. Prominent singer, Alamgir, performed at the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General thanked the APA and Village of Bolingbrook for establishing and continuing with the tradition of organizing Pakistan flag hoisting ceremony every year, which competed 30 years this month. He also highlighted the historical importance of the day, milestones Pakistan has achieved since its independence and reforms and policies undertaken by the Government in various fields, particularly those related to facilitation of overseas Pakistanis. He also appreciated the contribution made by the Pakistani-American community in the Midwest region.
