Consul General attends a Reception hosted by the Chicago City Government

Consul General attended a Reception hosted by the Mayor of Chicago and President, World Business Council

Consul General Tariq Karim attended a reception hosted by Mayor of Chicago and President, World Business Council to celebrate the city’s reopening. The event was attended, among others, by consular corps and Chicago Sister Cities International’s leadership. Chicago and Lahore have a sister-city agreement signed in 2007.

During the event, the Consul General briefly met Hon Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and highlighted his agenda to promote bilateral relations between the two sides, particularly in trade and economic domains. He said that sister city agreement between Chicago and Lahore provides basis for enhanced cooperation in diverse fields and increased people-to-people interactions. The Consul General also highlighted the role of Pakistani-American community in socio-economic development of the city. Mayor Lightfoot welcomed the Consul General and said that she was looking forward to bolstering mutually beneficial cooperation.
