Consul General attends a Reception in Bolingbrook

 

Consul General Tariq Karim attended a reception hosted by the Association of Pakistani Americans (APA) of Bolingbrook IL. The event was attended, among others, by Mayor of Bolingbrook Mary Alexander-Basta, former Mayor Roger C. Claar, APA President Talat Rashid, high ranking city officials and representatives of Pakistani-American community.

In his remarks, the Consul General thanked the APA and senior city officials for their warm welcome and hosting a wonderful event in his honor, and expressed hope that the two sides will continue to work together to enhance mutual cooperation, particularly under the sister-city agreement concluded between Bolingbrook and Sialkot. In pursuance of the agreement, a street in Bolingbrook was named after Sialkot whereas Hajipura-Daska Road in Sialkot was named after Bolingbrook.

The Consul General lauded the role of Pakistani-American community as a bridge between the two countries, and assured them his full support in promoting mutually beneficial partnership between Pakistan and the Midwest region in different fields. In this regard, he emphasized the importance of promoting economic diplomacy and people-to-people interactions.
