Consul General Tariq Karim attended the Pakistan-descent Physicians Society (PPS) Annual event held at Oakbrook, Illinois. The event this year was dedicated to flood victims in Pakistan.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General highlighted the unprecedented scale of devastation caused by catastrophic climate-induced floods in Pakistan and the government’s rescue and relief efforts. He emphasized the need for the international community to support Pakistan tackle this calamity, especially in view of the fact that Pakistani was bearing the brunt of climate change despite its negligible contribution to global carbon emission. The Consul General appealed to the members of Pakistani-American community to come forward and generously donate for flood victims in Pakistan. He also appreciated the PPS for their charitable work and bridge-building role.
The event was attended by a large number of physicians, members of Pakistani-American community and elected officials.
