Consul General Tariq Karim attended the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA)’s Strategy meeting held in Oakbrook, IL. The event was attended by a large number of APPNA members and medical fraternity.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General lauded APPNA’s role as one of the strongest and leading organizations of professional Pakistanis in North America, engaged in charitable and capacity-building work in Pakistan and the US. He highlighted the contribution made by the Pakistani-American community particularly its professionals and entrepreneurs in the socio-economic development of the two countries and their bridge-building role. The Consul General appreciated APPNA and PPS for their humanitarian assistance to flood victims in Pakistan. He also congratulated the new APPNA President and Board of Directors wishing them a successful tenure.
The Consul General briefed the participants about major initiatives of the Consulate General and the growing economic partnership between Pakistan and the Midwest region. He encouraged APPNA and PPS to continue to play their active role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan through their capacity-building and technology/expertise sharing initiatives while assuring them the Consulate’s full support in this regard.
