Consul General Tariq Karim visited Cleveland, Ohio, to attend the annual gala organized by the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America – North East Ohio Chapter (APPNA-NEO). The event brought together a diverse group of community members, healthcare professionals, and elected officials.
In his remarks, Consul General Tariq Karim emphasized the significant contributions of the Pakistani-American community and its professionals to the socio-economic development of both Pakistan and the United States, highlighting their role as bridge-builders. He commended APPNA and its regional chapters for creating a valuable platform for Pakistani physicians and expressed his appreciation to APPNA-NEO President Mr. Fawad Taj and his team for their dedicated efforts in organizing a successful event that included various segments designed to enhance youth and community participation.
Consul General Tariq Karim highlighted his key priorities, as well as the growing economic and trade partnership and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and the Midwest region. He encouraged community members and professionals to continue investing in Pakistan through initiatives and projects in healthcare, education, technology transfer, capacity-building, and philanthropy.
President of APPNA-NEO, Mr. Fawad Taj, along with other speakers, also addressed the audience.
During the event, the Consul General met with elected officials, including Ohio Senator Kent Smith and Ohio Representative Munira Yasin Abdullahi, exchanging views on promoting mutually beneficial partnerships between Pakistan and the State of Ohio.
He also attended a series of lectures organized by APPNA-NEO aimed at raising community awareness of healthcare issues. He interacted with University Hospitals representative Mr. Patrick Runnels to discuss the potential for institutional linkages between University Hospitals and leading healthcare institutions in Pakistan.
Additionally, Consul General Tariq Karim engaged with a group of Pakistani students from various universities across Ohio.
Throughout his visit, the Consul General interacted with community members and business leaders, addressing their inquiries regarding consular services and business promotion.
