Consul General Tariq Karim met Mayor Curt Skoog of Overland Park at his Office in Kansas. The Consul General was warmly welcomed by the mayor who briefed him about the city and his major initiatives.
During the interaction, they exchanged views on promoting mutually beneficial economic and civic partnership and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Overland Park. The Consul General briefed the mayor on business opportunities in Pakistan and growing partnership between Pakistan and the Midwest region. He proposed a sister-city arrangement between Overland Park and a city in Pakistan. The Consul General also highlighted the contribution made by the Pakistani-American community in the socio-economic development of the two countries and their bridge-building role. They agreed to work together to enhance collaboration between Pakistan and Overland Park in trade and investment, tech, agriculture and education sectors.
