Consul General Tariq Karim delivered a talk on “Pakistan Ties with the U.S. Midwest Region” at an event organized by International Relations Council (IRC) in Kansas.
In his remarks, the Consul General highlighted: significance of the Pakistan-U.S. relations; growing economic, trade and cultural ties between Pakistan and the Midwest region; investment opportunities in Pakistan; and role of the vibrant Pakistani Diaspora.
The Consul General emphasized Pakistan’s significance as an important investment, trade and tourist destination in the world. He highlighted various factors that contribute in making Pakistan an ideal place for businesses including: Pakistan’s geo-strategic location, its market size and demographic dividend, rich human and natural resources, extensive infrastructure, liberal investment policies and rapidly growing tech sector.
Consul General Tariq Karim briefed on investment opportunities in Pakistan, establishment of a Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a ‘single-window’ platform to facilitate investors, and incentives for foreign investors in different sectors.
The Consul General stated that the prospects of Pakistan-U.S. relations are bright while highlighting the significance of the U.S. as a key trade and investment partner for Pakistan. He highlighted the tremendous potential for collaboration between Pakistan and the Midwest region in diverse fields including trade, IT, agriculture, energy, mining, healthcare, education and tourism. He shared that various U.S. enterprises were already doing their businesses in Pakistan successfully for decades. The Consul General also emphasized the significance of cultural exchanges, people-to-people interactions and institutional linkages in promoting bilateral ties.
Consul General Tariq Karim underlined the contribution made by the vibrant Pakistani-American community in the socio-economic development of the two countries and their bridge-building role in strengthening bilateral relations. He encouraged the U.S. companies and Pakistani Diaspora to benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session during which Consul General Tariq Karim responded to various questions related to bilateral relations, investment opportunities in Pakistan and role of Pakistani Diaspora.
