Consul General Tariq Karim, during his visit to Cleveland (Ohio), participated in an event dedicated to the completion of the first phase of Pakistan Cultural Garden in Cleveland. The event, held as part of the One World Day celebrations, was attended by a large number of people including members of the Pakistani-American community and management of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. The One World Day celebrates Cleveland’s international communities.
The Board members of Pakistan Cultural Garden briefed about the cultural garden initiative which is a part of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. They highlighted their efforts aimed at developing thematic gardens surrounded by a replica of Minar-e-Pakistan with Pakistan’s flag flying high at the top.
During the flag raising ceremony, Consul General Tariq Karim hoisted the Pakistan flag at the Pakistan Cultural Garden for the first time.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General congratulated the Pakistan Cultural Garden’s Board and the vibrant Pakistani-American community in Ohio on the completion of the first phase of Pakistan Cultural Garden and lauded their efforts to realize their initiative. He expressed confidence that, upon completion, the cultural garden will showcase Pakistan’s historical richness, cultural heritage and renowned arts, besides promoting mutual understanding and friendship. He also thanked the local authorities for their assistance in setting up the Pakistan Cultural Garden. He encouraged the community members to extend their support in making the Pakistan Cultural Garden a unique landmark of Pakistan in the U.S.
The Consul General stated that, despite various challenges and odds, Pakistan has achieved many milestones in the last 76 years. He highlighted Pakistan as an important business and tourist destination.
He encouraged the community members to continue to play their active role in the socio-economic development of the two countries as bridge-builders while assuring them the Consulate’s full support.
Later in the evening, the Consul General held an interaction with a group of Pakistani students from the Cleveland State University and Board members of the Pakistan Cultural Garden. In his meeting, the Consul General briefed the students on a range of important issues and his key priorities and engagements, while encouraging them to focus on enhancing their learning abilities and skills and promoting the true image of Pakistan. He also responded to the queries in Q&A session.
During his visit to Cleveland, the Consul General also met with Mayor Ed Kraus of Solon (Ohio) at his office and exchanged views on ways to strengthen economic and civic partnership between Solon and Pakistan.
