Consul General Tariq Karim visited Madison, Wisconsin, where he met with President of City Council/Madison Common Council Syed Abbass and other elected officials from State legislature and City Council. He also interacted with members of Pakistani-American community in Madison, and visited a renewable energy plant where he was given detailed briefing.
The President of City Council also organized a reception for the Consul General which was attended by elected State/City officials, representatives from University of Wisconsen, and members of Pakistani-American community.
Speaking on the occasion, the Consul General, inter alia: lauded the contribution made by the vibrant Pakistani-American community and their bridge building role; highlighted the importance of economic partnership, civic/academic exchanges and people-to-people interactions; and encouraged the participants to play their role in promoting mutually beneficial partnership between Pakistan and the Midwest region. In his meeting with community representatives, the Consul General briefed them about various initiatives taken by the government to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis including RDA, e-visa.
