Consul General Tariq Karim visited Miracle Saltworks Collective Inc. (MSCI)’s Pink Salt facility in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, where he was warmly received by Mayor Daniel Bukiewicz of Oak Creek and top leadership of the MSCI. The businessmen included MSCI President and CEO Ahmed N. Khan; Vice President Tad M. Ballantyne; CCO/Board Member Muhammad M. Khan; Director & Board Member Jeffry Meilander; Rana Rehan Anwar (St. Louis) and Attiq Rana (St. Louis).
The MSCI leadership briefed the Consul General about their company and plans to invest in promoting Pink Himalayan Salt. It was informed that Pakistan, with its geographical monopoly of the resource, has enormous reserves of Pink Salt but it has not yet tapped its potential due to lack of policy framework and adequate facilities for processing, packaging and worldwide distribution. It was pointed out that Pakistan, with a potential of earning $12 billion annually in Pink Salt exports was currently exporting merely $70 million. Highlighting their plans to bring substantial investment into rock salt industry of Pakistan and mineral exploration, the company expressed its readiness to undertake a joint venture with Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation and invest $200 million in processing, distributing and importing Pink Himalayan Salt from Pakistan.
In his remarks, the Consul General highlighted that Pakistan’s geo-strategic location, its market size and presence of a large pool of trained professionals/workers as well as investment friendly polices of the government make Pakistan as an important business, trade and investment destination. Briefing the group on mineral products, the Consul General highlighted Pakistan’s large proven reserves of the Himalayan Pink Salt and its high demand and variety of uses across the world. He also mentioned about Pakistan’s registration of the product as Geographical Indications (GI) to prevent its unauthorized use. Consul General Tariq Karim welcomed the company’s interest to promote the Pink Salt industry in Pakistan and stated that the government was committed to provide every possible facilitation to international investors and the business community. The Consul General assured the MSCI leadership of the Consulate’s all possible support in their plans to invest in Pakistan and promote bilateral trade and economic partnership.
The Consul General also visited different sections of the Pink Salt facility in Oak Creek.
