Webinar held to celebrate International Women’s Day

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago and Pakistani Ladies Association in Midwest U.S. (PLAM) jointly hosted a webinar to celebrate the International Women’s Day – 2023. The event was attended by women leaders, members of the Pakistani-American community and Consular Corps.
Speaking at the occasion, Consul General Tariq Karim commended the role of Pakistani-American women as leaders, innovators and change makers. Lauding the emerging role of women in Pakistan’s national development, the Consul General reiterated that Pakistan was committed to empowering women at all levels of society. He urged the Pakistani-American women to continue to play their active role in the socio-economic development of the two countries while contributing in fostering closer ties between the two people. He also appreciated the contribution of PLAM in this regard.
In her remarks, patron of PLAM Mrs. Aasma Tariq briefed about PLAM’s objectives which, inter alia, include promotion of Pakistani culture and soft power and strengthening of the role of Pakistani-American women. She also lauded the Pakistani- American women as leaders and change makers.
The second segment of the webinar included presentations by Henna Muzaffar, Assistant Professor for Nutrition and Dialectics at Northern Illinois University and Maheen Quraishi, pilates instructor.
Henna Muzaffar spoke on women’s health and the importance of balanced diet in nutrition. Maheen Quraishi presented a demo of relaxing and breathing exercises and techniques.
