Consul General Tariq Karim attended the Annual Awards Ceremony/Gala Dinner organized by the Bolingbrook Premier League (BPL) for the winners from across Chicagoland. The Mayor of Bolingbrook, other elected officials, sports organizers and community representatives also attended.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General highlighted the importance of people-to-people interactions and sports connections in bringing nations and communities together. He congratulated the winning teams and players. Highlighting Pakistan’s rich sporting culture and cricket as a favorite sport, the Consul General appreciated the BPL and Pakistani-American community for their efforts to introduce and promote cricket in Chicagoland, and encouraged them to play their role in enhancing sports ties between the two countries.
