Consul General attends Community Reception

Consul General Tariq Karim attended a reception hosted by Pakistani-American journalists, academicians and community representatives. They welcomed the Consul General and assured him of their support & cooperation.

The Consul General thanked the participants for their warm reception and lauded the role being played by the Pakistani-American community. Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General outlined his major priorities which include: actively engaging the Pakistani-American community in the Midwest region as a bridge between the two countries to promote shared objectives; provision of quality service delivery and facilitation to the community; outreaching political, economic, cultural and educational institutions/leadership to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and promote people-to-people interactions, and; pursuing economic diplomacy to advance Pakistan’s economic partnership with the region. He also highlighted the Consulate General’s enhanced community outreach efforts, including through in-person meetings/events and regular monthly virtual townhalls/Khuli kachehris to discuss/resolve issues faced by the community and exchange ideas.

The Consul General highlighted various initiatives of the government to facilitate overseas Pakistanis, including Roshan Digital Account (RDA), Naya Pakistan Certificates and other investment schemes, online visas etc. He mentioned that record remittance inflows and over $ 1.25 billion investment in RDAs by Overseas Pakistanis were manifestations of the success of various policies and initiatives of the government.

The Consul General urged the participants to play a greater role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan and promotion of soft image of the country. He assured the participants of his full support and cooperation in this regard.
