A team of officials from Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago, led by Consul General Tariq Karim, visited Michigan on September 10-11, 2021, to establish a Consular Camp for Pakistani-American community in Michigan and nearby States, and community outreach.
The Consular Camp, which is part of Consulate General’s “Consulate in your Town” initiative received overwhelming response from the community and a large number of applicants turned up to authenticate their documents and avail other consular services. They deeply appreciated the visit of Consulate’s team, which helped them to avoid undertaking visits to Chicago.
During his stay in Michigan, Consul General Tariq Karim participated in a number of community events, including a Seminar on “Quran through the lens of Iqbal”, attended by a large number of participants. Speaking at the Seminar, the Consul General paid rich tribute to the great poet, thinker and philosopher while highlighting the universality of his message. He said that Allama Iqbal through his vision, political insight, and poetry set a course for the Muslims of sub-continent to realize their dream of a separate homeland.
priorities which, inter alia, included: provision of speedy quality services to Pakistani-American community and actively engaging them as a bridge between the two countries; outreaching local dignitaries and institutions to promote mutually beneficial partnership and people-to-people interactions; and, pursuing economic diplomacy to enhance trade and investment, tourism, remittance flow and technology transfer. He lauded the contribution made by the vibrant Pakistani-American community in the socio-economic development of the two countries and encouraged them to continue to play their leading role in this regard. The Counsel General also highlighted the polices and initiatives taken by the government to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis and assured them the Consulate’s full support and cooperation.The Consulate General plans to set up more Consular Camps in some other Midwestern states in future to facilitate the Pakistani-American community.
