Consul General Tariq Karim attended the 4th DICE (Distinguished Innovations, Collaboration and Entrepreneurship) Annual Gala event held at Farmington Hills in Michigan. A large number of people including entrepreneurs, professionals and tech executives attended the event.
The leadership of the DICE Foundation briefed about their projects and initiatives in Pakistan, since 2007, in diverse sectors such as automotive, energy & water, health, textiles, information technology and agriculture. It was informed that DICE has launched innovation centers across Pakistan to pursue projects such as design and development of an indigenous car, medical devices, innovative textile products, and low cost renewable energy.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General commended the efforts of Pakistani-American community in Michigan and DICE leadership to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan in diverse sectors. He stated that, despite various challenges and odds, Pakistan has made remarkable progress in different fields in the last 76 years. The Consul General emphasized Pakistan as an important business and investment destination and the enormous potential and opportunities offered by Pakistan in various sectors. Briefing the participants about his key priorities as Consul General, he highlighted the growing economic and trade partnership and people-to people contacts between Pakistan and the Midwest region.
Consul General Tariq Karim lauded the Pakistani-American community for their contribution in the socio-economic development of the two countries and their bridge-building role. He encouraged the community members and professionals to continue to play their active role in the economic development of Pakistan by fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer. He also assured them of all possible support from the Consulate in this regard.
During his visit to Michigan, the Consul General also interacted with members of the Pakistani-American community and businessmen and responded to their queries related to consular services and promoting businesses.
