Consul General Attends Turkish Festival in Chicago

Consul General Tariq Karim attended the Turkish Festival at the Stephens Convention Center in Chicago, IL. The festival featured food, performances, and lectures on various topics.
The Consul General interacted with organizers and attendees of the festival, including actor Celal Al, who played Abdurrahman Alp, a character from the famous Turkish drama Ertuğrul.
Consul General Tariq Karim also attended and spoke at the “Intro to Muhammad Iqbal’s Universal Message” lecture, organized by the President of the Iqbal Society, Dr. Teepu Siddique. Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General underscored that Allama Iqbal’s vision, poetry, thoughts, and philosophy had a universal appeal that continues to inspire millions across the world. He highlighted the profound influence of Iqbal’s philosophy and poetry both in Pakistan and Türkiye. He said that Iqbal’s focus on self-discovery, self-improvement, and selflessness resonates with people of all backgrounds and nationalities. He also highlighted the significance of the poet’s message for the people of the U.S. Dr. Teepu Siddique and other speakers also highlighted key aspects of Iqbal’s poetry, philosophy, and thoughts and their relevance for people around the world.
