Consul General Tariq Karim attended an event, jointly organized by the Lahore Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International and the Pakistani-Descent Physicians Society (PPS), at the Cultural Center in Chicago to celebrate the Pakistan Independence Day. Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General, inter alia, highlighted: the historical significance of the Pakistan Independence Day; various milestones achieved by Pakistan in the last 76 years, despite many challenges and odds; Pakistan as an important business, investment and tourist destination; importance of the Pak-US bilateral partnership; and role of the vibrant Pakistani-American community in the socio-economic development of the two countries. He appreciated the Lahore Sister City Committee and PPS for celebrating the Independence Day in a befitting manner, which reflected their strong bonding with their country of origin. The Consul General encouraged the Pakistani-American community & professionals to continue to play their active role as bridge-builders while assuring them the Consulate’s all possible support and cooperation.
