Consul General attends APPNA-NEO Inaugural event in Cleveland

Consul General Tariq Karim visited Cleveland (Ohio) where he attended an inaugural gala event organized by members of the newly formed APPNA-NEO (Association of Physicians of Pakistani-Descent of North America-North East Ohio Chapter). The event was attended by a large number of community members, medical fraternity as well as other professionals and elected officials. Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and the Junaid Family Foundation’s Chairman Ansir Junaid also attended the event.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General highlighted the contribution made by the Pakistani-American community & professionals to the socio-economic development of Pakistan and the U.S. and their bridge-building role. He lauded APPNA for its role as one of the strongest and leading organizations of professional Pakistanis in North America, engaged in charitable and capacity-building work in Pakistan and the US. He appreciated President APPNA-NEO Mr. Fawad Taj and his team for their initiative to form a new APPNA chapter in North East Ohio which will not only serve to connect Pakistani physicians in the region but also provide a platform for sharing knowledge, expertise and best practices.
Consul General Tariq Karim briefed the participants about major priorities of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago and the growing economic partnership between Pakistan and the Midwest region. He encouraged the community members and professionals to continue investing back in Pakistan through their initiatives/projects in healthcare, education and research, technology transfer, capacity building and philanthropic work. He assured them the Consulate’s full support in this regard.
During the event, the Consul General also met Mayor Shammas Malik of Akron (Ohio) and exchanged views on promoting mutually beneficial economic and civic partnership and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Akron.
The Consul General also interacted with community members and businessmen and responded to their queries related to consular services and promoting businesses.
Earlier, the Consul General also attended an event/lecture series organized by APPNA-NEO to raise community awareness on healthcare issues.
