During his visit to Cleveland, Ohio, Consul General Tariq Karim visited Cleveland Clinic where he was warmly received by President of the Cleveland Clinic Dr. Scott Steele. He was given a tour of the hospital and briefing on the institute. Later he held a meeting with senior management of the Institute/Chairs of various Departments & Institutes including, Dr (s). Maan Fares, Nizar Zain, Raed Dweik, Andrew Shaw, Mathew Walsh, Shazam Hussain, Nadeem Rehman and Cortis Rimmerman.
A group of physicians from APPNA (Association of Physicians of Pakistani-Descent of North America) including President-elect APPNA Dr. Humeraa Qamar and President of North East Ohio APPNA Dr. Fawad Taj also accompanied the Consul General.
During his interaction, the Consul General appreciated the role of Cleveland Clinic in advancing quality healthcare and fostering innovation. He stressed the importance of strengthening partnership between Pakistan and the U.S. in the field of healthcare and medical research. The Consul General highlighted the contribution of APPNA and Pakistani processionals in different fields. He also discussed ways to exchange skills and share best practices in critical fields, including exploring opportunities for Pakistani medical students for residency training programs and research. The two sides agreed to work together to promote cooperation and institutional linkages between Cleveland Clinic and prominent Pakistani healthcare institutions.
