During his visit to Iowa, Consul General Tariq Karim met Mayor Frank Cownie of Des Moines, at the City Hall. During the interaction, they discussed ways to promote mutually beneficial economic and civic partnership between the two sides in diverse fields. The Consul General briefed Mayor Cownie, who is an environmental advocate, on the devastation caused by catastrophic climate-induced floods in Pakistan. The Consul General also highlighted the contribution made by the Pakistani-American community in the socio-economic development of the two countries and their bridge-building role.
