Consul General Tariq Karim attended the World Food Prize Foundation’s Laureate Award Ceremony held in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Consul General met climate scientist Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig, recipient of this year’s award, and appreciated her contribution to food security. During his interactions with participants of the award ceremony, the Consul General highlighted the devastation caused by catastrophic floods in Pakistan and need for the international community to support Pakistan in tackling this calamity, especially in view of the fact that Pakistan was bearing the brunt of climate change despite its negligible contribution to global carbon emission. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration in mitigating the impact of climate change on agriculture and food systems.
