Consul General Tariq Karim participated in a discussion organized by OPEN-Chicago on Resilience of Pakistan’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Itasca, Illinois. Mr. Eric Flachbart, an experienced medical device developer working in Pakistan for Byonyks, shared insights on conducting business in the country, during a talk moderated by OPEN-Chicago Chairman Aamir Chalisa. He emphasized the high caliber of engineers in Pakistan, praising their strong work ethic, alongside the quality of institutions and labs. Mr. Flachbart also noted Pakistan as a safe travel destination. Additionally, Mr. Farukh Usman, CEO of Byonyks, highlighted the development of bloodless dialysis machine in Pakistan-a highly advanced medical device, as a collaboration between the U.S. and Pakistan, that will soon be exported globally.
Speaking at the occasion, Consul General Tariq Karim commended OPEN-Chicago and its members for their efforts in fostering entrepreneurship and professional excellence in both the U.S. and Pakistan.
He praised Byonyks for its investment and innovative initiative in developing a cutting-edge bloodless dialysis machine in Pakistan as a solution to kidney diseases.
The Consul General outlined key factors that make Pakistan an attractive business and investment destination, including its market size, demographic dividend, rich human and natural resources, favorable investment policies, and a rapidly expanding tech sector. He also discussed investment prospects in Pakistan, the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a single window platform for investors, and incentives available for foreign investors. Encouraging investors to explore opportunities in various fields in Pakistan, the Consul General assured them of the Consulate’s full support. The Consul General also met four Pakistani engineers working with Byonyks.
