Consul General Tariq Karim met with U.S. Senator Todd Young in Indianapolis, IN. During the meeting, the two discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in multiple fields, particularly trade & economy. The Consul General briefed him about Pakistan’s growing partnership and people-to-people contacts with the Midwest region. He stated that there was an enormous potential for the two sides to further enhance cooperation in different fields. The Consul General also highlighted the contribution made by the Pakistani-American community in the socio-economic development of the two countries. He also briefed him about the devastation caused by the climate-induced floods in Pakistan last year. The Consul General thanked Senator Young, a friend of Pakistan, for his support. They agreed to continue engagements on shared priorities to further expand partnership.
Consul General Tariq Karim and Senator Todd Young also visited the Clarendon Textile factory in Indianapolis, where they were briefed by President & Founder Calderon Textiles Mr. Azher M. Khan, a prominent businessman/member of the Pakistani-American community. The management of the company informed that most of their textile products are imported from Pakistan. The Consul General appreciated the Clarendon Textile’s contribution in promoting trade and business ties between the two countries, while assuring them the Consulate’s all possible support.
During his visit to Indiana, the Consul General also held an interaction with members of the Pakistani-American community in Indianapolis. Appreciating their contribution in the socio-economic development of the two countries and their bridge-building role, the Consul General encouraged the community members to continue playing active role in the economic development of Pakistan and promotion of its soft image, in a united manner.
