Consul General Tariq Karim attended the opening ceremony of Cultural Exchange Market pop-up at Wringly Building located on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, one of the world’s most famous shopping areas. This international showcase pop-up, initiated by the City of Chicago and World Business Chicago (WBC) through Consular Corps, features retail and food businesses that will showcase cultures of four countries, including Pakistan. Two businesses from the Pakistani-American community at the international showcase pop-up include Studio Elite (that will sell Pakistani clothing and goods) & Kings Sweets (to sell Pakistani sweets/food).
Speaking at the occasion, Consul General Tariq Karim appreciated the City of Chicago and WBC for their cultural pop-up initiative and providing an opportunity to Pakistani businesses to showcase Pakistani rich culture & handmade art, décor, apparel, and foods.
He highlighted Pakistan as melting pot of various cultures and civilizations and its contribution in contemporary arts, fashion and garments. He expressed hope that the pop-up will play an important role in familiarizing Pakistani culture, arts, garments and food in Chicago and beyond, beside promoting bilateral ties. The Consul General also highlighted the growing economic and trade partnership and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and the U.S. Midwest.
The ceremony was attended by President WBC, members of Chicago’s Consular Corps, and business community.
